One of the most beautiful cycling routes in Europe, the Tauern Cycle Path, passes directly through Pfarrwerfen. This is a haven for all sports enthusiasts and hobby cyclists.
If you want to ride at a leisurely or brisk pace, but without the disturbance of cars, through breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, then the Tauern Cycle Path is the perfect choice.
The total length of the Tauern Cycle Path circuit is 280 kilometers (Krimml - Bruck - Salzburg - Zell am See/Bruck). Thanks to the descent from Krimml (1,076 m) to Salzburg (425 m), it's mostly downhill. Over 90 percent of the route follows cycling paths or low-traffic side roads.
However, there are also significantly shorter routes available, suitable for children as well. From the hotel, you can easily embark on many other smaller cycling excursions. We are more than happy to provide you with plenty of information and tips.

Eisriesenwelt Werfen - Salzburg
The Largest Ice Cave on Earth
Not far from our house, one of the most enchanting attractions in the Salzburg region awaits you. Bear witness to a unique natural spectacle of rock and ice! Visit the largest ice cave on our planet Earth!
Just 5 kilometers away and easily reachable by car in about fifteen minutes, you'll find the "Ice Giant World Werfen."
This natural wonder has been accessible since 1928, offering its visitors an unforgettable experience throughout the years. Immerse yourself in a fairytale world of rock and ice!!
Enjoy an exceptional guided tour through this extraordinary realm. The duration of this tour is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. It's recommended to allocate a total of 3 to 4 hours for the visit.
You can take a cable car daily from May 1st to October 26th, heading towards the summit of Hochkogel, all the way up to the Ice Giant World. Alternatively, you have the option to take the 90-minute footpath through the Tennengebirge mountain range.

Perched high above the Salzach Valley, between the Tennen and Hagen Mountains, this fortress with historical significance stands. In this former defensive castle from the 11th century, a variety of entertainment and offerings await you.
From castle tours with weapon exhibitions, an elegant castle tavern, a knight's shop, to the historical State Falconry Court with daily flight demonstrations, the 1st Austrian State Falconry Museum, and regularly changing special exhibitions, there is something for every taste.
The 7 Mills - Pfarrwerfen
Something truly recommendable is the open-air experience called "The 7 Mills." In close proximity, you can learn and experience everything about bread!
On an experiential trail, visitors are introduced to the diverse topics of "From Grain to Bread" and "The Farmer as Miller."
Especially for families with children, a visit to the open-air museum is ideal, as there's plenty to explore and discover "interactively" in the 7 mill buildings, at the water play area, and along the grain educational path. For instance, there's a special mill rally for children.
Yet, adults won't miss out either: They can expect to learn about local grain varieties, grain cultivation in the Alpine region, milling techniques, bread-related customs, and much more in this unique attraction, which is exclusive to the state of Salzburg.
